Mr. Sensitive

Materials

Cache La Poudre River driftwood, teeth carved from mule deer bone, heart carved from a piece of wood I found floating in a lake near Bellingham WA, metal springs, wheel barrow tire innertube, copper nails, rope, Black 4.0 (blackest paint in the universe created by Stuart Semple, absorbs 99.95% of light), white tail deer antler.

Measurements

8.5 in. tall sitting, 13 in. tall standing, 5 in. wide

I was inspired to create Mr. Sensitive from an impulse to make a bot that had a hidden compartment or door. I really enjoyed making puzzle boxes in the past and wanted to incorporate some of that creative process in my carving. Mr. Sensitive's heart, revealed when you turn his head to the left (your right), is my first attempt at carving something realistically anatomical. I work full time as a nurse and spent a couple years working on a cardiac intensive care unit in Denver. I find the cardiovascular system to be incredibly fascinating, complex, but also surprisingly intuitive. Mr. Sensitive contains my widest diversity of materials including the blackest paint in the universe. Seriously, it's called Black 4.0 and was created by Stuart Semple in his art studio, Culture Hussle, located in the UK. It reportedly absorbs 99.95% of visible light. That's probably a real selling point so, you know, take notice.
